A Message from the Junior President

2 Dec 2017 by Simon Green

Hi All

Another pre-xmas BNJCA season draws to a close and once again it has been a successful one for the club. We now have well over 550 active members in the club from milo in2 cricket participants up to our Open teams. This equates to over 53 teams from U8-Open. We remain one of the largest junior clubs in the State with a clear progression path for players through to senior cricket.

It is disappointing that we have made the decision to cancel our U10-Open Presentation Day tomorrow. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page where we will announce our Junior and Senior Player of the year awards.

A big thank you to all the coaches and managers who have given their time to ensure our players have had an enjoyable half-season. The season can’t happen without you guys!

The club’s major fundraiser this year will be a raffle titled “The Ultimate Cricket Experience”. The winner receives a once in a lifetime day for you and 7 mates, comprising breakfast with Chris Lynn, a round of golf at Indooroopilly with Matt Renshaw, dinner with Ryan Harris, followed by a corporate box with Ryan at a Brisbane Heat game. Further details can be found here. Be sure to share with anyone you feel may love a day like this. Tickets are $50………you need to be in it to win it!! The raffle closes on the 14th Dec.

We will soon be opening Registrations for the Post Xmas competition. Please note, if you wish to continue playing with Toombul post xmas you will need to register again. Ensure you register as a returning player as this is at a reduced cost. Registrations will close on the 8th January. All further information will be posted on TeamApp and facebook. (Note this applies for u10-open only, super 6 registrations are for the full season and you do not need to reregister)

It is vitally important that everyone follows us on facebook and TeamApp. Moving forward into next season, all registration information will be posted by these mediums. Thank you to Damian Sharry who started and has been running our juniors facebook page. Damian has done a wonderful job with the content.

I would like to take this opportunity to pass on our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to David Oldham. David made the decision to stand down as President of our senior club earlier this year after many years of exhaustive service. His contribution to our junior club was substantial, best evidenced by the success of our Friday night Programs. We look forward to seeing David around the club and back into the juniors as his young family grows.

Finally, to my fellow committee members, Melinda Balkin, Catherine Malone and Ollie Oehlman, thank you very much. You have put in an amazing effort. A large amount of work goes into running a club of our size, amplified by the limited numbers we have on the committee. Our kids would not have a club to play at if it wasn’t for your efforts. A very special thank you to Melinda, who has been an ever-present force at the club. Your efforts with clothing, kits, milo in2 cricket and all the other tasks you do on top of being our Treasurer is greatly appreciated by myself and the rest of our Toombul cricket community.

Best of luck to all the players post xmas, whether it be here at Toombul or at your School. I look forward to seeing you all again either in our post xmas teams or next September for the start of the 2018/19 season.

Simon Green
